Overview
I am an independent author based in New Zealand. Purchases made through this website are governed by New Zealand law where applicable. If you are purchasing from another country, you may also have consumer rights under the laws of your local jurisdiction. Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude any rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Digital Products (Ebooks & Audiobooks)
Due to the nature of digital products, sales of ebooks and audiobooks are generally final once the download or delivery process has begun. I do not offer refunds for change of mind. Ebooks and Audiobooks are delivered by BookFunnel. If you experience difficulties downloading or accessing your purchase, please contact me, and I will work with BookFunnel to resolve the issue.
Physical Books (Print-On-Demand)
My physical books (including paperbacks, hardbacks, special editions, box sets, and bundles) are produced via a print-on-demand service. I do not accept returns for change of mind.
Damaged or Defective Items: If your book arrives with a manufacturing defect (e.g., missing pages, incorrect binding, significant printing defects, pages printed upside down, or damage sustained in transit), please contact me at E.Laine@emersonlaineauthor.com within 14 days of delivery. Please include your proof of purchase (such as your receipt), order number, and a photograph of the damage or defect. Once confirmed, I will work with the print provider to arrange a replacement copy for you at no additional cost.
Lost Shipments: If your physical order has not arrived within the estimated delivery timeframe, please contact me. I will investigate the shipment with my fulfilment partner and, where appropriate, arrange a replacement or other suitable resolution.
Your Consumer Rights
As a consumer, you are protected by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. If a product you purchase does not meet the guarantees required by the Act (e.g. it is faulty or not as described), you are entitled to a remedy, which may include a repair, replacement, or refund. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or replace your rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
